Invisalign

Who can benefit from Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign can treat patients with malocclusion – overbites, underbites, crossbites, gapped teeth, open bites, crowded teeth, and mainly straight teeth that need minor adjustments. Malocclusion causes affects teeth, gums, and the jaw and can result in severe pain, bruxism, gum disease, and even tooth loss.

The benefits of Invisalign go beyond straightening teeth to give you a more beautiful smile, it also improves the health and longevity of your smile.

best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist costa mesa - cosmetic dentist costa mesa - dental implants costa mesa - dentist near me - dentist open now - saturday dentist - ppo dentist - delta dental - teeth whitening - dental veneers - laser dentistry - invisalignHow does Invisalign work?

Invisalign treatment works just like traditional metal braces, but provides the convenience and privacy desired by using clear aligners made of a special thermoplastic material.  The trays are strong enough to cause teeth to move and thin enough to be virtually invisible.

The amount and timing of pressure applied on the teeth is no accident.  Your case is designed just for you! Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson and the Invisalign laboratory work together to provide you with a custom course of treatment to move your teeth to the right place at the right time.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Invisalign treatment time can range anywhere from a few months to up to several years.  Every smile is different and treatment time depends on how much and what type of movement is needed to get your teeth into the proper position.

Scheduling you iTero 3D scan is the first step to determining treatment time.  You can book anytime online at www.mycostamesadentist.com.

Can I eat with the Invisalign trays?

YES!  You can eat anytime, anywhere, and anything without having to worry about every meal getting jammed up in metal brackets like traditional braces.

When it is time to eat, simply remove your Invisalign trays, put them in your personal carrying case, and enjoy!  After you’re finished, just pop them back on and you’re back in action.  We do recommend brushing or rinsing your teeth before putting the trays back in.

Can I take my Invisalign trays out to brush and floss?

YES! Take your Invisalign trays out to brush and floss in the morning, in the evening, and after meals.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Any discomfort from Invisalign treatment is mild and experienced mostly when you switch to a new set of trays as this is when the pressure is the most.  Nothing ibuprofen can’t help with in most cases.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

You may experience a slight change, but once you get used to speaking while wearing your trays there is typically no noticeable difference in speech.

How much does Invisalign cost?

You can be assured that at Advanced Dental Care in Costa Mesa, the fee for Invisalign is totally all-inclusive.  No surprises at the end of treatment.

The total cost of Invisalign depends on whether you are an Express case or a Full case. The fee covers the initial consult, all photographic records, your 3D model digital scan, the initial delivery and placement of any attachments, and all visits thereafter.  Our fee also includes any additional trays needed at the end of treatment, called refinements, to ensure your smile and occlusion are right.

The value is priceless.  The cost ranges from $3000-$6000 and worth the investment in your health and appearance!

Does my insurance cover Invisalign?

It might and we would be more than happy to check your dental insurance coverage and benefits at no charge.  Just give us a call or shoot us an email.  We just need a few pieces of information and can let you know within 10-15 minutes in most cases.

What is the difference between Invisalign and other companies like Smile Direct Club?

Everyone wants Invisalign.  Of course, it was only a matter of time before other companies would catch up to this clearly amazing treatment.  Orthodontic procedures are major dental treatments that change bone and affect the structures in your mouth.

Invisalign is patented, proven technology that works!  Your treatment is designed, produced, and overseen by Invisalign certified dentists.  You can feel confident knowing that you are in good hands with your most valuable asset, YOUR SMILE!

When choosing a provider, you want to ensure your dentist is trained and experienced in Invisalign treatment.  That’s why so many patients trust Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson with their Invisalign treatment and that’s why he has become a the top Gold Invisalign doctor in Costa Mesa.

How do I get Invisalign?

Starting best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist costa mesa - cosmetic dentist costa mesa - dental implants costa mesa - dentist near me - dentist open now - saturday dentist - ppo dentist - delta dental - teeth whitening - dental veneers - laser dentistry - invisalign

On your initial visit, you will meet with Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson, a Gold Invisalign provider, to discuss your smile and how Invisalign can help you.  Dr. Jorgenson will perform a visual consult and take a series of smile photos to document your current teeth, gum, and jaw position.

If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, we will take a 3D digital laser scan of your smile using the latest iTero digital technology.  The scan produces a 3D digital model of your teeth, which is used to determine exactly how and where to move teeth to achieve a straight, healthy smile.

You’ll be able to see how Invisalign can improve your smile with the iTero Outcome Simulator.  Dr. Jeremy then works with the Invisalign laboratory on each case to design a custom treatment plan.  You’ll be prescribed however many sets of aligners are needed to move your teeth.

When the trays arrive, you will come back to our office where we will apply any attachments and go over the at-home process and care.  You will pick up several weeks of aligners at one-time and change to the next tray in the series every 1-2 weeks.  Each aligner gradually shifts your teeth closer to the desired end result.

In no time, you will be smiling ear-to-ear showing off your brand new smile.

Smile Smart Tips for Success!

Going back-to-school is bittersweet for both parents and students.  No one wants summer to end, but students enjoy going back to school to see their friends again, getting back into school sports, and moving one step closer to graduation!

Even though going back-to-school is an exciting time, students can experience anxiety.  Anxiety can interfere with sleep, wellness, and performance.  But don’t worry!  We’ve compiled some smile smart tips to help you smoothly transition back into the school year.

Smile Smart Tip # 1

Of course our first tip is to complete your dental exam and x-rays, and cleaning, before school starts.  These services are often covered at 100% by dental insurance.  Nothing can distract students more than throbbing, achy tooth pain that requires an emergency dental visit. Make sure your dental health is an A+ for academic success!

Smile Smart Tip # 2

Our second tip is to get enough sleep.  The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends:

  • 9-12 hours for school-age children
  • 8-10 hours for teens
  • 7 or more hours for adults

Not getting restful sleep?  Schedule a consultation for Sleep Apnea or Bruxism.  A custom sleep device to treat sleep apnea can improve sleep quality and reduce chances for heart disease or stroke.  A custom nightguard to prevent grinding that can cause poor sleep, headaches, and aggrevated TMJ.

best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist costa mesa - cosmetic dentist costa mesa - dental implants costa mesa - dentist near me - dentist open now - saturday dentist - ppo dentist - delta dental - teeth whitening - dental veneers - laser dentistry - invisalignSmile Smart Tip # 3

Our third tip is to choose healthy food and drinks to feel your best and keep your teeth strong and healthy.  Avoid drinks with color additives, sugar, carbonation, or acid to protect against decay and erosion.  Choose foods with calcium, minerals like cheese, yogurt, almonds, leafy greens, and carrots.

Smile Smart Tip # 4

Our fourth tip is to protect your smile during school sports.  An injury can cause broken teeth, dead teeth, and even permanent tooth loss.  Consider a custom athletic mouthguard for school sports in your school colors!

Smile Smart Tip # 5

Brush and floss for at least 2 minutes twice a day to maintain good oral hygiene between dental visits.  Choose a soft bristled toothbrush making circular motions at a 45 degree angle and waxed floss or flosser picks to get the areas in between teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach.

For more information on these smile smart tips or to schedule an appointment, please call/text us at (714) 424-9099 or you can schedule online, send email, or live chat us at www.mycostamesadentist.com.

Oral Cancer

April 13, 2018

Oral Cancer Facts

The Oral Cancer Foundation estimates approximately 132 patients are diagnosed with an oral cancer EVERY DAY!  That means over 51,550 people will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year.  Early detection of neck, mouth, and throat cancers is critical to identify the appropriate treatment and reach the best outcomes.

The main causes of oral cancer are alcohol and tobacco use and human papilloma virus (HPV), specifically strain HPV16. You can reduce your risk of getting oral cancer by avoiding excessive alcohol intake, avoiding tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, vaping, chew, snuff, pipes, dip, etc.) completely, and by reducing direct skin/mouth contact with another person with HPV.

Survival Rates

Oral cancer has lower survival rates than cervical cancer, thyroid cancer, and Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  Survival rates have not increased in over a decade.  When detected in early stages, there is a 70-80% survival rate.  However, when detected in later stages, the survival rate is less than 50% after 5 years.  Most oral and neck cancers are not detected in the early stages, because of lack of patient awareness and the overall difficulty of detecting these types of cancers.  This is why it is critical to visit your dentist every 3-6 months for your professional exam or any time you detect something unusual.

Oral Cancer Self Exam

The Oral Cancer Foundation has put together this instructional video so you can perform your own at-home exam between dental visits or if you notice something unusual.

Schedule your free oral cancer screening with Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson today!  Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is here to answer any questions 24/7.  You can reach our Costa Mesa dental office by phone at (714) 424-9099 or book online anytime at www.mycostamesadentist.com.

At your child’s dental appointment, our team will ensure that your child’s smile is free of decay and provide the necessary preventative care to keep them healthy until their next visit.  Depending on the age of your child and how frequent they visit Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson - Costa Mesa Dentist - Emergency Dentist - Saturday Dentist - Dental Crowns - Dental Bridges - Dental Implants - Invisalign - Veneers - Teeth Whitening - child's dentalental hygienists will then perform a hygiene exam to check the gums and tongue for any signs of trouble.  Then Dr. Jorgenson will perform his comprehensive exam to check for any abnormalities, decay, or possible future issues to monitor.

If the exams and x-rays show no signs of disease, decay, or other dental health issues, we will perform a teeth cleaning, polish the teeth, and apply fluoride to protect the tooth enamel (as needed).  Before the end of the child’s dental appointment, one of our hygienists will review tips for maintaining a happy, healthy smile!  This includes proper brushing and flossing technique and review of foods and drinks that are good or bad for teeth.  Children can practice using a toothbrush on an oversized mouth model for education and for fun!

During your child’s dental comprehensive exam, there may be conditions discovered that require treatment.  Depending on the condition, the necessary treatment can be performed immediately in our Costa Mesa dental office or just something Dr. Jorgenson wants to keep an eye on.  Any possible issues will be discussed in full, allowing time for discussion of all treatment options, and any questions you or your child might have.  Some common conditions include:

Help! I have a Broken Tooth. Do I need Emergency Dental Care?

June 16, 2017

chipped tooth - cracked tooth - broken tooth - front tooth - best dentist costa mesa - emergency dentist - ppo dentist - no insurance dentist - saturday dentistEmergency Dental Care in Costa Mesa

Have a broken tooth?  Often times patients do not come to see their dentist unless a dental condition has become urgent and painful!  By the time a patient is experiencing acute, sharp, throbbing pain, the condition is not so cute.  Whether you just broke a tooth or have had a broken tooth for some time, it is best to see your dentist ASAP!

How and why do teeth break?

Teeth can break for a variety of reasons, including physical injury, biting into a hard or tough piece of food, decay that weakens the tooth enamel.  They can chip, crack, or fracture, damaging one or more layers of the tooth, and break above, at, or below the gum line.  Fractures of the tooth root, which are not visible to the eye, are also serious and consequently damage the blood vessels and nerves that supply the tooth.  Lastly, your tooth can become loosened or displaced from their socket.

Can a broken tooth be saved?

Depending on the severity of damage to the tooth and its root and how fast you act, your dentist has more opportunities to save your tooth!  Surface chips and cracks can most often be fixed with fillings or bonding.  Cracks or fractures that extend beyond the gum line, can be more difficult to repair, requiring a root canal and/or dental crown.

Infections in decayed or broken teeth can spread to the surrounding gum tissue, jaw bone, and can even become systemic.  Your dentist can treat the infection and may be able to repair the tooth, however, some infected teeth cannot be saved.  Teeth that have lost blood and nerve supply, necrosis, are usually recommended to remove.

If the tooth cannot be saved, don’t worry!  There are many tooth replacement options available to restore your smile to its full function and aesthetic.  At Advanced Dental Care in Costa Mesa, we offer personalized treatment to your condition and budget, including dental implants, several types of dental bridges, crowns, and dentures.

When to see your dentist?

Physical trauma or injury to your face or head or excessive bleeding, swelling, or pain are serious.  Please get emergency care immediately!  When you take swift action, injuries resulting from trauma have the best chance for recovery.  In addition, swelling, extreme pain, redness, and heat, can all be signs of a serious infection.

A tooth with a large chip, crack, or break at or near the gum line, may not bleed or swell, but be very painful.  The biggest risks associated with large or deep cracks/chips is damage to the nerve and blood supply and infection.  Call your dentist as soon as possible to get in for emergency dental care!

You may not notice when you have small chips or fractures, while other chips might be sharp or jagged.  Sharp or jagged chips cause irritation to your tongue and cheeks.  You should still see your dentist as soon as possible, even if you are not currently experiencing pain.  Small cracks and chips can expose the inner layers of your teeth leaving them susceptible to decay, infection, and further breakage.

Call now for your free consultation with Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson at our Costa Mesa dentist office. We are available by phone at (714) 424-9099 anytime or visit us online at www.mycostamesadentist.com.  In addition, we are in network with all PPO dental insurances!  No dental insurance? No problem!  We also offer our own plan with no maximum or deductibles, and most importantly, you can sign up today!.

Cosmetic Bonding and Dental Fillings

May 12, 2017

Cosmetic Bonding or Fillings – which is the right fix for you?

Cosmetic dentistry can be used to quickly and easily fix imperfections in your smile.  Cosmetic bonding and dental fillings can be great options to repair a chipped tooth or alter the size and shape of a tooth in just one visit!  And you’re in great hands at Advanced Dental Care.. Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson is not only the best dentist in Costa Mesa, but an artist when it comes to restoring teeth with cosmetic bonding or dental fillings!

Cosmetic Bonding

cosmetic bonding - tooth fillings - white fillings - composite - cosmetic dentistry - cosmetic dentist - costa mesa - newport beach - irvine - ocCosmetic bonding is a procedure that uses a composite resin or a dense, formable plastic that looks and feels just like the enamel on your tooth.  The composite material can be used to fill in chips or to add length or width to a tooth to achieve the size and shape you desire.  With a skilled dentist like Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson, you can achieve the look you want in just one visit.  Dr. Jorgenson will review the bonding process and collaborate with you to determine the size, shape, and color you desire.  Then he will directly apply the composite material to your tooth and use a curing light to harden the material.  Voila!  You have a beautiful, strong, healthy smile!

Check out our patient Courtney’s 10 minute bonding transformation!

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used when the tooth is decayed or fractured requiring both a clinical and cosmetic fix. Dr. Jorgenson uses the same composite resin used in dental bonding, but also removes any decay from the tooth ensuring the tooth is healthy and prepped for the bonding.  Both the indirect and direct bonding techniques are actually comprised of several procedures.

  1. cosmetic bonding - dental fillings -tooth fillings - white fillings - tooth decay - composite - cosmetic dentistry - cosmetic dentist - costa mesa - newport beach - irvine - ocPrepping the Tooth: may be necessary to trim away any decayed or sharp surfaces
  2. Etching: acidic solution applied to make a better surface for the bonding material to adhere to
  3. Applying the Bonding Agent: the glue that holds the composite to the tooth
  4. Applying the Composite
    1. Direct Bonding: the composite is placed directly on the tooth in layers
    2. Indirect Bonding: the composite is formed outside of the mouth and then applied to the tooth
  5. Curing: a blue light that causes the composite and bonding agent to harden together
  6. Shaping and Polishing to Perfection!

Each step is necessary to ensure that your bonding restoration is the perfect size, shape, smoothness, and color to achieve the best function, health, and aesthetic of the tooth!

Why do I need a crown after a root canal?

March 21, 2017

Dental Crown after Root Canal

By Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson

Why may a dental crown be needed after a root canal?  Well let’s start by talking about root canals.  A root canal may be necessary when your tooth decay has reached the inner pulp or root of your tooth.  The infection may be extremely painful or you may not even know the decay has spread to the root.  Removing the tooth decay and infection is essential to preventing the spread of the infection to surrounding gum and bone tissue.

When a root canal is necessary, your dentist will use a drill or a laser to take out the decayed enamel, dentin, and the pulp to ensure all of the infected tooth is gone.  Depending on how much of the natural tooth structure must be removed, and other factors, will often determine whether a dental crown is needed after a root canal.  Generally, when large decay is present, the tooth has been significantly weakened, and when the tooth regularly experiences a lot of pressure (think back molar tooth), a dental crown may be appropriate to restore function.
