Invisalign Smile Makeover

November 17, 2020

Read this article to learn more about this amazing Invisalign makeover!

By Dr. Jeremy B. Jorgenson

invisalign in costa mesa - invisalign doctor - ortho - orthodontics - clear braces - invisalign reviews - before and after - best dentist near me - best dentist orange county - ppo dentist - dental that takes my insurance

We love Invisalign for more reasons that we can count. It may be because almost all of us here at Advanced Dental Care have undergone the treatment and been amazed by the results or because we have witnessed first hand how many smiles have been transformed by this clear and easy-to-use technology.

This patient chose Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson for her Invisalign makeover, because he is a Gold Plus Invisalign provider with hundreds of hours of training and casework. At the initial consult, the patient discussed her concerns about the look of her smile with Dr. Jorgenson. Not only were there aesthetic concerns, but Dr. Jorgenson also determined she was experiencing both severe crowding and slight overbite which also affect the health of the smile. Our staff performed an iTero digital scan and let the patient know we could correct it all in a little over a year. The patient was ecstatic and wanted to move forward right away.

BEFORE

Before getting stated with the Invisalign treatment, Dr. Jorgenson needed to ensure there would be enough space for the teeth once they were properly aligned. He removed one tooth on each side of the upper arch. Once that tooth removal procedure was completed, the patient was ready to start her trays.

At her first treatment visit, Dr. Jorgenson placed attachments on the teeth to assist with moving the teeth correctly, made sure the initial trays fit properly, and gave instructions on wear. Invisalign trays need to be worn for approximately 22 hours a day and only removed for eating and brushing/flossing to ensure the best results in a timely manner.

The patient started with 2-week wear, switching to the next set of trays in her prescription every 2 weeks. With great on-track results at each subsequent visit, Dr. Jorgenson switched her to 1-week wear. She also chose to use Propel to speed up the process.

In about 15 months, she was finished with treatment and now has an absolutely gorgeous, straight smile she can be proud of! We are so thankful to have been a part of her Invisalign journey.

Cosmetic Bonding and Dental Fillings

May 12, 2017

Cosmetic Bonding or Fillings – which is the right fix for you?

Cosmetic dentistry can be used to quickly and easily fix imperfections in your smile.  Cosmetic bonding and dental fillings can be great options to repair a chipped tooth or alter the size and shape of a tooth in just one visit!  And you’re in great hands at Advanced Dental Care.. Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson is not only the best dentist in Costa Mesa, but an artist when it comes to restoring teeth with cosmetic bonding or dental fillings!

Cosmetic Bonding

cosmetic bonding - tooth fillings - white fillings - composite - cosmetic dentistry - cosmetic dentist - costa mesa - newport beach - irvine - ocCosmetic bonding is a procedure that uses a composite resin or a dense, formable plastic that looks and feels just like the enamel on your tooth.  The composite material can be used to fill in chips or to add length or width to a tooth to achieve the size and shape you desire.  With a skilled dentist like Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson, you can achieve the look you want in just one visit.  Dr. Jorgenson will review the bonding process and collaborate with you to determine the size, shape, and color you desire.  Then he will directly apply the composite material to your tooth and use a curing light to harden the material.  Voila!  You have a beautiful, strong, healthy smile!

Check out our patient Courtney’s 10 minute bonding transformation!

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used when the tooth is decayed or fractured requiring both a clinical and cosmetic fix. Dr. Jorgenson uses the same composite resin used in dental bonding, but also removes any decay from the tooth ensuring the tooth is healthy and prepped for the bonding.  Both the indirect and direct bonding techniques are actually comprised of several procedures.

  1. cosmetic bonding - dental fillings -tooth fillings - white fillings - tooth decay - composite - cosmetic dentistry - cosmetic dentist - costa mesa - newport beach - irvine - ocPrepping the Tooth: may be necessary to trim away any decayed or sharp surfaces
  2. Etching: acidic solution applied to make a better surface for the bonding material to adhere to
  3. Applying the Bonding Agent: the glue that holds the composite to the tooth
  4. Applying the Composite
    1. Direct Bonding: the composite is placed directly on the tooth in layers
    2. Indirect Bonding: the composite is formed outside of the mouth and then applied to the tooth
  5. Curing: a blue light that causes the composite and bonding agent to harden together
  6. Shaping and Polishing to Perfection!

Each step is necessary to ensure that your bonding restoration is the perfect size, shape, smoothness, and color to achieve the best function, health, and aesthetic of the tooth!

What is your tooth pain telling you?

March 16, 2017

By Dr. Jeremy Jorgenson

Tooth Pain can be a PAIN, but there is a reason why our bodies try to notify us that something is wrong.  Tooth pain can be an indication of infection, irritation, injury, or decay. It can be lingering, persistent, sharp, dull, off and on, but just altogether awful!

When you experience tooth pain, it is best to get a professional opinion to ensure that you address dental issues immediately.  Waiting for tooth pain to go away on its own will undoubtedly lead to a more complex, and sometimes more costly, treatment later.

Anatomy of a Tooth

To explain tooth pain, you should first know more about how a tooth is structured.  infected-inflamed-pulp-tissue

The tooth is composed of layers.  The outermost layer, the enamel, is the hardest layer and the first defense in protecting the inner pulp or root from decay and infection.

A variety of factors including poor oral hygiene habits, lack of regular dental exams, diet, genetics, etc., all play a role in slowly eroding the protective enamel later.  As the enamel erodes, the softer, more sensitive layers inside the tooth become exposed.  Some patients experience pain with little to no enamel erosion and others don’t feel anything until the decay or infection has reached all the way down to the pulp or root.

This is why regular dental visits are so important.  Your dentist can inform you about decay or infection before it reaches the point of severe pain, or worse, more invasive, costly dental procedures that are required to try to save your tooth.  The worst outcome, of course, is loss of the tooth completely.

Treating Your Periodontal Disease

February 8, 2017

periodontal disease costa mesa dentist advanced dental care best dentist in orange countyYou’ve just found out you have Periodontal Disease. Now What?

Don’t worry!  The most important thing is knowing about your condition and having a knowledgeable and experienced dental team to get your gums back to optimal health!  The Advanced Dental Care team in Costa Mesa, CA has the solutions for you!

Periodontal Disease is an active bacterial infection of the gum tissue in our mouth.  Once bacteria has burrowed in between our gum tissue and teeth it begins to flourish.  This bacteria inflames our gums and eats away at the bone holding our teeth in place.  No good!  Left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to more systemic inflammation, infections, and eventual tooth loss.  At Advanced Dental Care, we provide same day diagnosis and treatment of Periodontal Disease.  This may include a combination of Scaling and Root Planing (SRP), Laser Bacterial Reduction (LBR), and Oral Irrigation.

You may have heard your dental hygienist calling out numbers during your last cleaning appointment.. “2-3-2” “4-3-3” “5-6-4”.  If your dental hygienist didn’t explain the procedure to you, this is called Periodontal Probing and Charting or Periodontal Measurements.  Periodontal Probing and Charting is one of the hygienist’s most important tools for determining the condition of your gums, what type of cleaning you need, and measuring the success of the treatment on subsequent appointments.
