We can go over symptoms, possible causes, instructions, and get you in our office as soon as possible.&nbsp; If you&#8217;ve experienced a physical trauma to your mouth that has resulted in excessive bleeding or swelling, loss of many teeth, teeth or objects lodged into the gums, we may refer you immediately to the emergency room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things you can do at home<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toothache (not from injury)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Try taking the recommended dose of your preferred pain relieving medicine (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid eating and drinking in that area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If around the gums, try flossing in the area to dislodge any food or objects that may be present<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Small amounts of Bleeding or Swelling\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply pressure with clean, dry paper towel to any bleeding areas\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If this does not stop bleeding, try wetting the paper towel with ice cold water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply cold compress to areas of swelling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid blood thinning medications including aspirin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chipped or Cracked Tooth\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Try not to swallow the broken tooth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid eating and drinking in that area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loss of Temporary Filling or Crown\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoiding chewing in the area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For temporary crowns, you may be able to place the crown over the tooth to protect the tooth until a new temp can be made<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abscessed Gums or Tooth\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don&#8217;t poke or prod the abscess or touch with fingers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid chewing in that area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loss of tooth (not from injury)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rinse the tooth and try to gently place the tooth back in the socket\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the tooth will not stay in place, put it in a glass of milk and call us immediately<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid touching the root portion of the tooth (the part that was in your gums)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid touching the open socket to prevent infection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put the tooth in milk to help preserve it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contacting Advanced Dental Care<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We want you to know that as a patient of Dr. Jorgenson&#8217;s, you can be comforted in knowing that we are available to you when you need us most.&nbsp;
